Hailey has been given a book from her Grandfather Tom it has stories of hidden treasure and maps. One of them is about the Legend of Tupa’s heart. Her grandfather would often tell her stories about all the treasure hunts that he went on, and the treasure he would find. Hailey wanted to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps and become a treasure hunter too. Hailey’s grandfather was taking another trip, she begged for her and Milo ( her best friend) to come along this time, he agreed as long as they stayed out of trouble. The trip was to a church in a small town, Hailey recognised the name of the town and knew it was close to the book she had read on The legend of Tupa’s Heart. While Tom was investigating the church, Hailey and Milo took the opportunity to see if the legend was real. What they found was truly amazing………

I borrowed this book as a Prime member as the short overview didn't indicate an 'age appropriate' nor a 'reading level'. I was intrigued by the concept of the story and as result, I was prepared to purchase the book. When I saw that I could check it out as a library loan at no charge, I borrowed the book instead of buying.I have a tremendous respect for parents who write a book to meet the needs of their children. That apparently is what motivated this parent to create this story. The writer clearly has a passion for filling the gap between first word books and chapter books.
This book has a wonderful story; it falls short by providing a strong outline for a truly creative full length book. I was left waiting and wanting the rich details a longer book could provide. Delightful story that needs to claim it's place and be expanded upon to fill out the. delightful character's adventure. The characters are strong and laudable. The adventure is exciting. Two children go into the rain forest in search of a lost artifact only to be faced with an age old moral dilemma of material wealth vs. the comfort of home and family. What will they choose? We will only find out when this budding author goes back and fills out their search for Tupa's Heart.

In a bookshelf filled with books... this is the only one being asked for. A journey with the story and a journey with the pictures long after the book has been finished. This one is definitely a winner!
